The Singer 7442 Sewing Machine has a very reasonable price mark and despite its humble cost it sports lots of features which you would expect to see on a pricier machine.

Singer has suffered a setback to its fine name lately because of its decision to transfer its operations overseas but with its use of an aluminium body instead of plastic, it has without doubt retrieved some of its kudos.

People who have purchased the Singer 7442 have said that they particularly like it because of:

-Its ease of use

-The consistency of its stitching

-The auto needle-threader function and the easy-to-load bobbin

-Its lightness – making it comfortable to raise and carry

On the minus side however, some buyers have drawn attention to:

-The fact that there is no manual adjustment

-It has a rather weak LED light

-It is not really powerful enough to deal with heavier materials

-It now and then breaks down

It has a miscellany of accessories which comprise:

In conclusion I would say that for the price, the Singer 7442 offers many features you may not get with other more costly machines. It does have its pros and cons, as do all machines whether cheap or costly.

I would say that this is a very good model for a novice but may not be advanced and functional enough for the more experienced and adventurous crafter.

The Singer Curvy 8763 Sewing Machine is a little more expensive than its sister model above but is more appropriate to the advanced sewer.

It is easy to select which mode of stitch you want and because the stitch patterns are integrated, you know that you will always produce precise sewing all the time.

It has the exclusive SwiftSmart Threading System which threads the needle with just one touch of a button and the Drop and Sew Bobbin System has a specially manufactured thread track which eliminates the need for you to manually raise the bobbin thread.

On the plus side, people who have this model report that they approve of:

-The very good selection of stitches which is available

-The robustness of the construction

-The particularly well-presented manual

Conversely, other owners have complained that:

-The pressure of the presser feet is pre-set to only three levels

-A twin-needle is not provided with the machine

They both have much to commend them but overall the consensus of opinion of people who have purchased the machines is that the Singer 8763 is probably more suited for the sophisticated sewer and it consistently receives favourable reports.
